November International Match Roundup

Six Reign FC players saw action during the November international break.

In its first match under former Reign FC coach Vlatko Andonovski, the United States Women’s National Team emerged victorious over Sweden, 3-2 at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus Ohio on Thursday, November 7. Three days later, Reign FC midfielder Allie Long was subbed on and played 27 minutes in the United States’ 6-0 win over Costa Rica on Sunday, November 10 at TIAA Bank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.

Megan Rapinoe was did not participate in the U.S. WNT training camp or matches due to injury.

Two Reign FC players saw the pitch in the first round of the Yongchuan Tournament in China on Thursday, November 7. Rebecca Quinn started and played 45 minutes in Canada’s 4-0 loss to Brazil at the Yongchuan Sports Center in Chongqing. Rosie White, meanwhile, played 63 minutes for the Football Ferns in a 2-0 loss to China.

The two nations met in the tournament’s third place on Sunday, November 10, with Canada winning 3-0. Quinn played the full second half, while White did not play for New Zealand.

Goalkeeper Lydia Williams and defender Steph Catley both started and played the full 90 in a pair of victories over Chile. The Matildas defeated Chile 2-1 on Friday, November 8 at Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta, Australia, before recording a 1-0 victory against the same nation at Coopers Stadium in Adelaide on Tuesday, November 12.

Forward Jodie Taylor played 17 minutes as a substitute for England in a 2-1 loss to Germany at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday, November 9. The match drew 77,768 fans, the largest-ever crowd for an England women’s match on home soil. Taylor did not appear on the matchday roster in a 3-2 win for the Lionesses over the Czech Republic on Tuesday, November 12.
