OL Reign Signs Goalkeeper Maia Pérez

SEATTLE, WA. (September 21, 2023) – OL Reign today announced that it has signed goalkeeper Maia Pérez, who was acquired via the discovery process, through the remainder of the 2023 season. Pérez was previously signed with Angel City FC in 2022 before going on a one-year loan to Grand Paris Seine Ouest (GPSO) Issy 1992 of the Division 2 Féminine.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to join OL Reign and learn from some of the best in the sport,” said Pérez. “This is obviously a very important time in the league, so I’m ready to get to work and help the team as much as possible.”

Prior to playing professionally, Pérez attended the University of Hartford between 2017 and 2021 and was a three-time America East All-Conference goalkeeper. The 23-year-old graduated as the fifth all-time leader in saves (273) and sixth all-time leader in career wins (32) and career shutouts (19) for the Hawks.

“We’re extremely fortunate to be able to sign a goalkeeper of Maia’s caliber and experience at this point in the season,” said OL Reign general manager Lesle Gallimore. “Her understanding of the league and the level of play is important. Her eagerness and positive attitude around supporting our late-season playoff push made her signing a simple choice for OL Reign.”
