OL Reign Announces Players Available in NWSL Expansion Draft

OL Reign today announced its list of players available for selection by Racing Louisville FC in the 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft. The Expansion Draft will take place on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. PT. The NWSL Expansion Draft will be broadcast live exclusively on the NWSL’s Twitch channel.

Under 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft rules, teams are permitted to protect up to eleven players from selection in the Expansion Draft. Of the eleven protected players, up to two may be players who were allocated by U.S. Soccer for the 2020 NWSL season. All other players must be left unprotected and available for selection in the Expansion Draft.

Included in OL Reign’s protected and unprotected lists are players whose rights to play in the NWSL are currently held by OL Reign. This includes players such as Rose Lavelle, whose rights were acquired by OL Reign in a trade earlier this year, as well as former Reign players that have retired, were transferred to clubs outside the NWSL, or otherwise have their rights to play in the NWSL controlled by OL Reign.

Louisville may select up to two players from OL Reign’s list of unprotected players, unless they select a player who was allocated by U.S. Soccer for the 2020 season, in which case they may select only one player.

OL Reign has protected eleven players, including two players allocated by U.S. Soccer for the 2020 season. The club has left unprotected thirty players. The complete list of OL Reign’s protected and unprotected players is shared below.
