Claudia Dickey Earns NWSL Save of the Week

The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that OL Reign goalkeeper Claudia Dickey has earned the Deloitte Impact Save of the Week for her stoppage time save against the Washington Spirit on Friday, October 6 at Lumen Field.

The National Women's Soccer League Save of the Week is a weekly award given to individual players in the National Women's Soccer League since 2016. The honor is awarded by popular social media vote to the player deemed to have made the best save over the past week.

This is the first time that Dickey has been honored with this award. The second-year goalkeeper has played in five regular season matches for the Reign this season, as well as three Challenge Cup matches. After earning three consecutive clean sheets during the 2023 Challenge Cup, Dickey has recorded two clean sheets and 20 saves in her first five regular season starts. Since her debut on August 27, Dickey ranks second in the league in clean sheets and third in saves, respectively.

In OL Reign’s match against the Washington Spirit on Friday, Dickey made five saves to preserve the 0-0 draw for the Reign. In her Save of the Week play, she thwarted an effort from Washington forward Trinity Rodman, who received the ball just above the six-yard box and fired off a close-range shot in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time. Dickey went to ground, diving to the near post to keep the ball out of the back of the net.
